REGARDING THE MAGGIES:

Hello. Thank you for coming by. There must be a reason. You are looking for information about The Maggies. Here's the deal: the band broke up in 2003. Everyone is doing different stuff now.

A wikipedia-type definition of The Maggies might be: a modern rock band that existed from 1993
-2002, and made beautiful, soaring power-pop; hooky anthems of pure heartbreak and hope with jagged edges that glisten in the hungover morning sun; songs and poetry above all, harmony above dischord, and something about the chord of G. An ambitious, productive band (5 cassette albums - remember those days?- a vinyl EP, 4 CD's) overlooked and overworked, hovering just barely under too many radars, signed with a well-funded, hopeful label that sadly died before the album was released, and not long after that the band itself broke up, after 3 member shifts, divorces, custody battles, fragmented tours and subtle paradigm shifts. This site is a bookmark for this band and gives basic info, without an exhaustive, boring diatribe. That will come later.

Who is doing what?

After the Maggies folded, frontman and songwriter Philip Price busted out with two solo albums in 2002 and 2003, respectively, and a solo career nod. He toured and managed to get himself signed to a little NYC label called Listen Here. The albums gathered much critical praise although they were a totally different vibe than the Maggies -- mostly acoustic-based, mournful. He had another solo album in the works when, after a few months of playing with a loose comraderie-ship of various musician friends, he realized he had another band on his hands, this one moodier, darker, more spartan. This band became the Winterpills, in 2004. Further good fortune abounded: the band signed with a great, supportive indie-label in 2005, Signature Sounds, and the future looks brighter than god's headlights. Their album was released nationally on Nov. 8 2005.

Adam Greenberg moved to NYC and became Senator.

Ken Maiuri plays in a million bands, notably of late with Mark Mulcahey, and previously with Pedro the Lion, The Mammals, and TW Walsh. He is a perennially and itinerantly brilliant addition to School For The Dead and many other Northampton-based bands.

Stuart Wright is busy teaching and drumming. He is in a new band called Hayseed Chrome.

Max Germer is busy being a new papa and still plays in Spanish for Hitchhiking.

Adrian O'Carolan is living out in Portland, OR.

Julie Keller is living and working in NYC, doing something in the fashion world (at last update, at least!)

Rich Dart is a busy percussionist/performer based in CT.

One day we may decide to get together and rock some more, but not right now. We all want to thank you fans for being so great all these years. Its been a long road, but we would travel it again in a second -- except of course that it took 9 years. This site will stay up and things may still happen here, but mostly it will point the way to other destinations.

And the CDs are still for sale over there on the right, of course. We still got a few of them. The music still lives. Stay tuned.

Sniff.
